As a non-photographer, it was about two years ago that I decided that the typical iPhone camera was not enough for me. Especially when it came to showcasing my exotic life on the internet. I figured since I curate so much art and photography on Compositon, it made more sense for me to display my cultural inclination by having an interesting treatment for my Instagram photo dumps.
That led me to go down the rabbit hole of finding the best point-and-shoot film cameras. A huge caveat to this article is that I am NOT a photographer. Although I do curate a lot of photography, my technical know-how in the area is relatively low, so these recommendations are going to be based on my personal preferences that have little to do with the technical features of each camera.
I personally like point-and-shoot cameras over SLRs since I can take them with me, whereas with an SLR, you have to either carry it in a bag or around your neck. Larger cameras are a bit more tedious to plan around, but with a point-and-shoot, you can typically put it in your pocket or a bag and pull it out whenever there’s an opportunity to shoot something. These cameras suit my lifestyle better, especially considering I’m not doing intense photographic projects; I’m mainly just capturing things I see when I’m either traveling or with friends, etc.
